Wrist rests launched to ease pain caused by nail tekking

A sole trader from Sheffield has launched an online shop selling wrist rests to help ease the pain that can be caused by nail tekking.
GB Wrist Rests retails rests that are constructed with heavy duty, wipe-clean vinyl, two inches of memory foam for comfort and suckered feet at the end of solid chrome metal legs to grip onto any textured surface. They have been manufactured to help improve posture for both clients and nail technicians and are large enough to fit most nail lamps underneath in order to save space.
Gary Brooker created the wrist rests after his nail technician wife, Lolly of Nails by Lolly, had been suffering from stiffness in her shoulder, upper back and neck.
She had been searching for a solution online to no avail. After Brooker decided to make her one as her birthday present, her colleague, Rachel Allen of Utopia Nails & Beauty, requested one to help with her fibromyalgia condition, which led to 10 wrist rests being built and sold at the Nailtopia event in Sheffield and Gary setting up an online shop.
Brooker comments: “Although it is called a wrist rest, technically you should position your client’s forearm on the rest behind the wrist for optimal comfort for both of you. The benefit of this is that the client is more likely to relax their wrist and fingers, which results in you having more control and the client is less likely to bend their fingers back for inspection.
“I want to help nail techs do what they do best, in comfort and style.”
GB Wrist Rests retail for £40 including signed postage & packaging via Collectplus.
