Vtct New Chairs

VTCT (Vocational Training Charitable Trust), which offers vocational and technical qualifications across sectors including beauty therapy, has appointed Jenny Sworder as chair and Isabel Sutcliffe as vice-chair of its board of trustees.

VTCT has over 1,600 approved centres globally, with a market share of 54% within the UK hair, beauty and complementary therapies sectors.

The board of trustees is responsible for the overall governance and leadership of the charity, its strategic direction and financial health.

The leadership and guidance received from the board of trustees allows the organisation to fulfil its charitable purposes, while providing qualifications and education resources which support the challenges and opportunities faced by learners, educators and businesses.

Jenny Sworder was the previous vice-chair and has served seven years as a trustee of the board.

She has been actively involved in the beauty and retail industry for over 20 years and takes over the role from Professor Dr Chris Laws.

She brings to VTCT extensive knowledge of the beauty industry and of business management.

Jenny comments: “I am delighted to take forward the great work that Chris has done for VTCT over the past 10 years. During this time he has helped to steer VTCT to being the wonderful organisation it is today.

“I look forward to further building upon this and tackling the new challenges within vocational and technical education, ensuring that learners remain at the heart of what we do as a modern and progressive awarding organisation.”

Isabel Sutcliffe is an independent consultant working in the education and skills sector.

She has had a long career in qualifications development and quality assurance covering school, college and work-place standards-based tests and assessments.

The new positions took effect on 3 December 2020.
