Research by Capital on Tap has revealed the UK’s hotspots for ‘high-quality yet low cost’ nail services.

Credit card and spend management platform for small businesses, Capital on Tap, has compiled The UK Beauty Report, analysing the cities that offer the best value for money in terms of self-care services.

The report examines the average price of a builder gel manicure and the percentage of nail salons rated over 4.5 stars on hair and beauty bookings website, Treatwell.

Scotland dominates the top of the leaderboard, with Edinburgh scooping the spot as the UK’s best city to find value for money nail services, with 94.9% of salons earning a rating of over 4.5 stars.

Fellow Scottish city, Glasgow, takes second place in the report, with an average builder gel manicure treatment costing £29 and 91.8% of nail salons receiving top ratings.

Third place is claimed by the UK’s capital, London, and while the average builder manicure is the most expensive of the list, at £43, the area boasts 88.8% of salons gaining a rating over 4.5, according to the findings. Newcastle upon Tyne follows closely, with 92.9% of salons rated over 4.5 stars, offering a builder gel manicure for £33 on average.

Bath and Chester stand out in the report for achieving a notable statistic: 100% of their nail salons have received ratings over 4.5 stars, the only cities with this particularly high satisfaction rate.
