Halloween Truro Penwith College Student

Nail Technology students at Truro & Penwith College showed off their handiwork in a Halloween themed nail art competition, with a crime scene style scooping first place.

The task, assigned by Level 2 & 3 Nail Services lecturer, Sarah Brenton-Sara, was to complete a Halloween nail art style – and there were no restrictions on the nail techniques that could be used.

Brenton-Sara comments: “The purpose of this task was to identify how the learners’ skills had grown in the first half term of their course. A high level of commitment was evident, as was a good technical ability, for such an early stage in their journey.

“The brief allowed the learners to grow in confidence and see their artistic progression. The task was great for building the rapport between the students and got them  to think on a deeper level regarding the techniques used and how they could be improved.

“A progression timeline will now be added to the classroom wall for learners to watch their skill levels grow day by day.”

1st place – Natasha Hodson for crime scene boxed nail art.

2nd place – Erin Williams for a mixture of intricate hand painting of her favourite characters.

3rd place – Kiera Northcott with spiders created using 3D gel, acrylic and hand painting.
