The owner of the British cosmetics and wellness brand, The Hut Group, is preparing to donate 25 tonnes of protective equipment to health care workers in the Manchester area.

The maker of Espa and Illamasqua has said the first batch of the 3.5 million essential items will be shipped out this week. Worth £2 million, the shipments include 150,000 face masks, 950,000 surgical gloves and 184,000 face shields.

Based in Manchester, The Hut Group has donated £5 million to support frontline causes in its local area. Matthew Moulding, founder and CEO of The Hut Group, says: “NHS and frontline workers are doing an outstanding and vital job to protect people in the UK.

“It is only right that we play our part and utilise The Hut Group’s global network to source, buy and donate essential personal protective equipment (PPE).

“We want to show our appreciation and play our part in helping keep them safe.”
