The hottest beauty brands of 2020 revealed

Cosmetify has released The Cosmetify Index 2020, ranking and rating 200 of the hottest beauty brands of the moment based on factors such as social following, engagement, Google searches and more.

Hottest overall beauty brand
Huda Beauty came out on top as the hottest beauty brand of 2020. Cosmetify took into account the number of Instagram followers, Instagram hashtags, Instagram engagement, global search volume and increase in searches compared to last quarter to decide on the ranking. The hottest beauty brands of 2020 are ranked as follows:

  2. Anastasia Beverley Hills
  3. MAC Cosmetics
  4. Yves Rocher
  5. Lush
  6. Florence by Mills
  7. NYX Professional Makeup
  8. Merci Handy
  9. ColourPop Cosmetics
  10. Morphe

“Once again, it was Huda Beauty that came out as the world’s most popular beauty brand, with almost twice as many social followers than any other brand, as well as being the most mentioned brand on Instagram, with over 24 million hashtags,” reveals the team at Cosmetify.

“The last few months have seen Huda’s dominance of the industry continue, as well as celebrating the 10 year anniversary of her blog, where it all started, with new product launches including the super Instagrammable Diamond Balms.”

Most powerful beauty influencers
Cosmetify studied the social following of 50 of the world’s biggest beauty influencers on both Instagram and YouTube, as well as earnings per post.

  1. James Charles
    James boasts over 16 million YouTube subscribers and a similar number of Instagram followers. At 21 years-of-age, he has estimated earnings of £61,080 per YouTube video and £29,541 per Instagram post, for a combined total of £90,621.
  2. Bretman Rock
    Bretman holds over 6 million YouTube subscribers and 14 million Instagram followers, with estimated total earnings per post of £56,800 on YouTube and £25,500 on Instagram. 
  3. Huda Kattan
    Huda has only 3 million YouTube subscribers, but a whopping 41 million Instagram followers, with estimated earnings of £2,921 per YouTube video and £74, 644 per Instagram post.
