The Gel Bottle Inc has collaborated with nail tech and TGB brand ambassador, Amy Rickaby, to launch the ‘Tortie Kit’.
The kit contains products required to create the popular tortoiseshell nail art design, and a version coined by Amy – the ‘Blonde Tortie’.
“Sometime in 2017, even before I was a TGB brand ambassador, one of my long-standing clients (who always brings a new creative challenge to her appointments) wanted to know if a tortoiseshell design was possible,” reveals Amy in a blog post for TGB. “We had previously tried to recreate a black opaque design with some success but creating the perfect Tortie turned out to a completely different story.”
Amy, who boasts over 63,000 Instagram followers, goes on to reveal that the early versions of her design combined a deep orange, brown and vibrant yellow – but while she tested various mixes and rations, she wasn’t satisfied that she had created the perfect tortoiseshell nail art.
“In late 2018 I was asked to become a brand ambassador for TGB; an opportunity that opened my eyes to a new world of products including TGB’s glass range,” Amy continues.
“The lightbulb moment for me was when my order of glass Yellow arrived. I chose this particular glass colour to mix with, expecting it to be a bright, almost neon shade. When I added glass yellow to the first mix of exclusively TGB products I couldn’t believe how perfect the outcome was.
“The tortoiseshell design I created using my mix of TGB glass Yellow, Chocolate & Jet Black following a layering method, has gone on to achieve recognition as the ‘perfect Tortie’ within The Gel Bottle community & is one of the biggest achievements of my career.”
More recently, Amy has developed a blonde tortoiseshell design using TGB products, including Vanilla from the New Nudes collection.
The Tortie Kit includes TGB shades in Glass Yellow, Chocolate, Jet Black, Vanilla and Blooming Gel and is available here.
