London-based salon, Shoreditch Nails, has revealed the Shoreditch Nails Academy Scholarship for members of the Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) community.

The Shoreditch Nails Academy is a training facility that provides students with the skills and qualifications they need to become a nail technician. The academy has launched the scholarship programme to offer a space to a beauty enthusiast from the BAME community.

The successful applicant will receive a place at the academy to undertake the Manicure, Pedicure, Gel & Basic Minimal Nail Art course. This course runs over four consecutive Sundays and covers all of the basics to enable students to work as a qualified nail technician. The course is worth 66 CPD points and Shoreditch Nails will provide a full kit including everything the student needs to start practicing at home, including bespoke Shoreditch Nails tools and polishes. The successful applicant will also be given the opportunity to interview for a role at both Shoreditch Nails Shoreditch and Shoreditch Nails Dalston.

Upon completion, a qualification from Shoreditch Nails Academy and the GTI is awarded, enabling the applicant to be insured to provide manicures, pedicures and gel polish application. The applicant will be provided with an electronic certificate in PDF format, issued by the Guild of Beauty Therapists.

The team at Shoreditch Nails Academy will also provide advice on how to set up a business or work as a freelance nail technician, as well as different products and equipment. Founder of Shoreditch Nails, Tina Michael, will also share her career story and answer any questions about how she set up and grew the brand.

“We want to give this opportunity to a member of the BAME community to provide them with the perfect starting point to a career in the beauty industry, as well as an opportunity to work within our growing company,” explains the team at Shoreditch Nails.

“We are committed to supporting underrepresented groups through our work here at Shoreditch Nails, and would like to see a more inclusive beauty industry in the future.”

Applications are now open for the scholarship: please email tina@shoreditchnails.com for more information and to apply.
