Permanent make-up & microblading training provider, K.B Pro, has released the results of its Beauty Career Index. The Index analyses a number of UK cities to determine which locations are most profitable for a beauty career, which are best for education and which have the biggest appetite for treatments.

Most lucrative cities to have a beauty career

K.B Pro analysed average salary reports, as well spending on beauty services and popularity of treatments on social media, to find the most profitable UK city to have a career in beauty.

This location is revealed as Liverpool, closely followed by Leeds and then London.

While hairdressing is the highest earning beauty career in the three cities, with data showing huge demand for this sector, the study reveals that being a nail technician or aesthetician are also profitable professions in Leeds in particular, with clients spending on average over £600 on both treatments annually. Being a lash technician or cosmetic aesthetician in London are also lucrative career choices, the Index reveals.

Best cities to study beauty

Based on the amount of highly rated cosmetology schools in the analysed cities, London takes the top spot for the best UK location to begin your beauty career. The UK capital is home to 71 schools scoring a rating of 4.5* and above on Google.

Glasgow is second in this category, with 53 schools with a 4.5* and above rating, followed by Manchester: the third best city to study and qualify in the beauty industry, with 48 schools rated 4.5* and above.

Cities that love beauty treatments the most

Using Google Maps data to determine the UK cities with the largest amount of ‘beauty spots’ (salons and services for beauty, nails, lashes, brows, make-up, hairdressing and medical aesthetics), the Beauty Career Index unveils London, Birmingham and Glasgow as the three cities that love beauty the most.
