Pinterest predicts 2022’s hottest nail trend & it’s an ode to nature

Pinterest has unveiled its beauty trend forecast for 2022, Pinterest Predicts, revealing that landscape-style nail designs, or what the company called ‘Nailscapes’, will take prominence.
This is based on global Pinterest data, sourced between October 2019 and September 2021, that shows trending search terms related to nails, particularly among millenials.
‘Galaxy nail art’ saw a 115% rise in searches, while searches for ‘desert nails’ rose by 105%. ‘Aurora nails’ searches rose by 4%, ‘ocean nails acrylic’ by 5% and ‘geode nail art’ by 2%.
The report attributes the rise in nature-inspired designs to beauty creators like Tábata Rodrigues, who comments:
“This year, my nail designs are less colour-blocking and more coastlines and butterflies. Nailscapes are all about little odes to nature. I think everyone will start requesting a set of ocean-inspired art on their fingertips.”
Pinterest also predicts that Brazil is one of the key countries where landscape nail designs will take off, with trending search terms in the country including ‘blue galaxy nails’, ‘desert terracotta nails’ and ‘mermaid nails’.
Other beauty predictions from the report include a rise in bejewelled looks, such as pedicures with rhinestones and crystal eye make-up, big hair styling techniques for those with afro-textured hair, including space buns and high-puff hairstyles, and daring cuts, with ‘bob cut wigs’ and ‘shaved head dye designs’ being searched for more.
