The National Hair & Beauty Federation (NHBF) has announced a partnership with energy consultancy, Direct Business Solutions (DBS), in response to members’ concerns about rising energy costs.

The members-only partnership will help hair and beauty businesses to save on their utility bills and follows the NHBF’s State of the Industry survey in March 2022, which found that 94% of UK salon owners had noticed an increase in utility bills compared to the same period last year, with 32% stating that they were their largest overhead.

The aim of the NHBF’s partnership with DBS is to help salon owners manage the energy pricing crisis as simply as possible, by finding the energy contract best suited to their business’ needs.

It will provide businesses with a dedicated account person, who will make the process of sourcing an energy supplier hassle-free. They will provide a choice of like-for-like quotes and clarity on energy pricing and broker costs, helping to put salon owners firmly in control.

Richard Lambert, NHBF chief executive, comments: “Rising electricity and gas costs are a real concern to salons across the hair and beauty industry. Coming on top of already increasing staff and business costs, they are pushing many salons at breaking point.

“We’ve partnered with DBS to help salon owners manage their rising energy costs by finding the energy supplier and tariff that suits them best. We hope that this will help to alleviate some of the pressure that the sector is feeling while it is still making a slow and steady recovery from Covid.”
