Session manicurist & celebrity nail stylist, Nickie Rhodes-Hill, has launched Nailing Fashion Week, a course focused on ‘everything a nail tech needs to know about working at Fashion Week’.
The course is ideal for nail pros who want to experience the action of Fashion Week, but don’t know how to be a part of it. The course includes education on the role requirements, a Fashion Week planner, nail art templates, Fashion Week kit checklist and other resources relaying insight into the ‘nitty gritty’ of Fashion Week runnings.
“As a seasoned session manicurist having done countless fashion shows over the past 10 years – as part of a team and as a lead manicurist, my knowledge of this part of the industry is firsthand and extensive,” shares Nickie. “My experience forms the backbone of the course.”
The Scratch Stars Session Nail Stylist of the Year winner 2018 and 2019 first noticed a gap in the education market after being approached and asked, numerous times, on her insight on working at London Fashion Week.
The session expert seeks to use the course to empower nail techs, offering knowledge on what it is like to work during Fashion Week, what you should know beforehand, and what you should avoid doing – based on the lessons she has learned herself.
Nickie comments: “Fashion Week can seem overwhelming when you are part of a nail team for the first time. I want Nailing Fashion Week to unzip all the elements to de-mystify the facets, protocols and expectations of Fashion Week teams – and guarantee that, post show, a nail team member will have some great images for their social media platforms, great team camaraderie and overall, a fabulous experience.”
Her advice comes from invaluable lessons she has learned on the job, also preparing techs for situations where things may go wrong. She shares: “The course teaches how to think on your feet should things go wrong – and they can! I have learned these protocols through sheer hard work, made plenty of mistakes – but also learned from them.
“Ultimately, with this course, a nail pro who wants the experience of Fashion Week will have all they need to avoid the feeling of being totally overwhelmed at their first show – making them a much more efficient nail team member,” she reveals.
The Nailing Fashion Week course is part of Nickie’s signature online course, Nailing Session Work – The Creative Blueprint, a ‘jam-packed course featuring everything about session work’. Acknowledging not every nail pro may want to go into session work, but may want to experience the ‘unique, fun, intensive and exciting’ experience of fashion shows, Nickie decided to sell the course separately.
“I have separated it out from the signature programme to create a stand-alone, self-study course which can be consumed and implemented in a week, a few days or even less, depending on the student,” she says.
