Ahoy! Join Wendy Old, educator with HD Professional, as she embarks on a nail-focused cruise and shares tech tales from the High Seas…
Day 3
Today saw the first full day at sea, as well as the first day of education for those on the Nail Those Profits at Sea Cruise.
The day began with the gift of amazing goodie bags, bursting at the seams with products from the event’s sponsors. Now I just need to find room in my case for them!
The session kicked off with an enlightening seminar from Janet McCormack on how to be a ‘six-figure nail tech’. I learnt some seriously useful tips to take home and put into practice.
Next, we moved on to a hands-on session from Ami McClure and Traci Dungan, from Profiles Backstage. Thought you knew everything about cats eye gel polish? Think again! The duo had some awesome tips, techniques and ideas for using cats eye polishes.
Our very own Danielle Cragg even bagged second place in a little impromptu competition, thanks to her design featuring a burger made from cats eyes. She was so hungry she couldn’t think of anything else to create!
After breaking for lunch, we sat ready for a live demo and seminar from Angela Blaisdell and Debra Schmidt, showcasing the X-Tens Gel System concept. If you haven’t heard of it, it’s a relatively new technique that uses specially designed, full well tips with gel to create extensions. It was great to see the system in action and to learn more about this efficient salon service.
After a short cat nap as the sea was a bit choppy, we got ready for our first formal night. Everyone looked gorgeous and we even had a little dance after dinner.
Tomorrow sees our first port stop, Amber Cove in Dominican Republic. I fully intend on soaking up some sun with our new nail buddies, from near and far including Canada, Antigua, UK, and all across the USA, too.
Keep an eye out for my next blog post…
