Nail tales from the Ibiza Fashion Festival

In her second blog instalment for Scratch, Suzanne Clayton of Souz Nails & Beauty and Souz & Co reveals more about the nail antics at Ibiza Fashion Festival…
“Souz and co arrived at Ibiza Fashion Festival with 280 pre custom made tips ready to apply to the models. As always, we were ready for the unexpected and this started with applying gel polish with crystals to the fingers and toes of TV’s Jenny Powell, who was hosting the event, as well as a few others.
“We had taken a selection of pre made tips in all sorts of designs for any ‘just in case’ moments – and I over packed as usual so had an array of glitters and gems with me, as well as nail polishes, nail art brushes and so much more!
“As is always the case with fashion shows, unexpected and sometimes unfortunate things happen and this led to us also turning ours hands to make-up to get the models catwalk ready. Ibiza Fashion Festival organiser, Karen Windle, and I decided to apply a shimmer gel to the models’ décolletage, alongside a bronzed glow to the face, a nude lip and a rose gold eyelid. Half the team did make up and half finished applying the custom made tips in a neon tie dye style, while the hair team; Liz Usher and Georgia Gellender from Hair By Vogue, gave the models a sassy beach wave look. Liz and Georgia are both Goldwell 2019 finalists and we are already organising a second collaboration with them.
“The fashion show was on the rooftop bar at Sol House Ibiza and it was an incredible venue!”
“You could see the Ibiza skyline and it had a beautiful infinity pool with day beds. Entertainment ensued and Jenny Powell led the presentation of fashion designers including That’s So You, Natasha Wright, House Of Kanai, G Collection and Bikini Kinini.
“There was a mix of attendees to the show including Denise Welch from Loose Women and actress, Angela Lonsdale. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to watch the show as I was backstage helping out where needed with the models, but the show finished as the sun went down in Ibiza and everyone came together to celebrate its success. The models and organisers mingled on the rooftop while interviews were filmed and photos were being taken and we had a few cocktails to celebrate.
“The next stop for Souz & Co was a show at Es Paradis nightclub. Unfortunately, we had early flights and the show didn’t start until midnight so we applied nails to the models and dashed to the airport. For this show, Hair By Vogue braided neon hair into the models’ hairstyles while we applied either neon pink, green or orange nails using shades from Gelica Gel with accents of black and white with silver stud nails.
“The team left shattered but buzzing from the experience, and there were some great pictures and memories created with the team; led by me, with Sammy Macdonald, Karen Brown, Lisa Graves and Becki Jones assisting. so many great pics to be had and beautiful locations with a great team. We’re already planning next year’s show nails as well as a few other collaborations with the hair team and with Lisa from Billion Dollar Smile; a sponsor at the event who is coincidentally local to my salon.”
