BBC Three documentary, Nail Bar Boys, which follows the lives of six nail techs in Liverpool, has been nominated for a Royal Television Society award.
The Royal Television Society North West Awards 2022 will take place on 26 November in Manchester, and sees Nail Bar Boys up for the title of ‘Best Factual Series’.
The three-part series from Liverpool production company, LA Productions, gives an insight into the lives of British Vietnamese nail techs, Astro, Kenny, Brandon, Bruno, Dragon and Tony. Together, they run Liverpool nail salon, L1 Nails.
While the team’s comedic dynamic affords plenty of laughs throughout the series, real-life issues like racism and addiction are also covered.
Speaking to Scratch, the Nail Bar Boys commented: “We have all put in so much hard work to overcome obstacles and challenges, paving the way for successful careers in the beauty industry. For our TV show to receive a nomination from the Royal Television Society is an amazing and proud moment for us.
“It’s also special for the industry to be recognised for everything that it brings to the public and economy, especially in the current climate.”
