Globally renowned Swedish nail artist, Celina Rydén, has launched online nail education platform, My Nail Academy (MNA), offering a wealth of courses for nailists keen to improve skills.
MNA offers technical courses on shaping, structure, extensions using forms, baby boomers and the French reverse technique – as well as Celina’s most popular nail art courses such as Galaxy, Stone Techniques and Colour Ombré. Over 1,000 students enrolled on the platform in the two months after it launched in May 2021.
“I have had students worldwide asking me for years to offer my courses online, but it took a while for me to figure out how to make it happen, Celina reveals. “Teaching is something that is so close to my heart and something that I’ve been doing for over 20 years, so even before the pandemic I decided that I wanted to be able to reach out to all of those who couldn’t travel to Stockholm or to the places that I visited.
“I couldn’t have imagined what an impact this project would make and how important it would become.”
Celina, who also works as an influencer and ambassador for Light Elegance Nail Products, had the idea for the platform long before the pandemic struck – affecting nail education delivery across the globe.
“For many years I was extremely against online nail education, because I thought that the only way to properly teach someone is to hover over the student’s shoulder and change errors on the spot,” Celina continues. “However, a couple of years before the pandemic, I realised where the industry was heading and wanted to help more students than I could reach via my travels.
“Anyone can launch an online class, but if there’s one good thing that came out of the pandemic, it is that it put pressure on the industry to offer high-quality online courses.
“I want to be one of those academies that sets that example and be one of the leaders that pushes the bar higher.”
Celina continues: “I have put my heart and soul into this platform, because I feel that my students deserve nothing less. It should be as close to the same feeling of sitting in one of my chairs at my studio.”
Three years in development, My Nail Academy has a user-friendly website that lists all the courses on offer, with more to be added in the future from other nail artists. Budding nailists can simply select the course and pay to enrol, after reading the breakdown of modules and what’s involved.
“I know that students learn in different ways so it was important for me to have text, visual and audio learning options,” Celina adds. “Each course features high-quality close-up videos to look at, while my voice narrates.
“Pointers are explained not just once, but several times and with a different twist. You also get the information in text, both on the platform and different content for the student to download and print.”
