Met Gala 2024: 20 show-stopping celebrity nail looks from the red carpet

An annual celebration of fashion and style, the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Met Gala fundraising event took place in New York last night (Monday 6 May 2024).

The event honoured new exhibition, Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, and welcomed celebrities to represent dress code, The Garden of Time, via their fashion, hair, make-up and nail choices.

Musician, Lil Nas X, turned to Temeka Jackson of @customtnails1 for an elongated glitzy Met Gala nail look, using metallic OPI GelColor shade, Go Big Or Go Chrome.

3D glass effect flowers adorned Lizzo’s nail enhancements, thanks to the singer’s go-to nail tech, Eri Ishizu.

Showcasing the same lace as on her Met Gala dress, manicurist, Thuy Nguyen, created these classy press-ons for actress, Emma Chamberlain, using Sally Hansen.

Nail artist, Coca Michelle, tended to the nails of Cardi B, imitating the appearance of a rose stem’s thorn via an angular French design using OPI.

Dainty 3D flowers were added to singer & actress, Dove Cameron’s nail enhancements, courtesy of Mel Shangaris of @painted_lolly.

Colombian musician, Karol G, embraced all things ethereal fairy with pointed ears, a platinum hairstyle and silver embellished dress, which Saccia of @sacciadidthat matched with the celeb’s nail look.

Demi Lovato’s nail style paid tribute to the flowers on her Prabal Gurung dress, thanks to celebrity nail tech, Natalie Minerva, who used OPI and a custom white and silver chrome mix.

Temeka Jackson (@customtnails1) created sparkling water drip effect nails for American actress, Taraji P Henson, using The GelBottle Inc and Aprés Nail.

Singer, Erykah Badu, sported long, purple almond enhancements courtesy of Naomi Yasuda of @naominailsnyc.

Nail stylist to the stars, Nin of @sreyninpeng, was on hand to fashion a sparkly look for musician & actress, Queen Latifah.

Tom Bachik created a rose gold velvet shimmer effect on nails for Camila Cabello, tying these in with the singer’s rose gold gown using Aprés Nail.

A frosty blue manicure, complete with rhinestones, complemented Sabrina Carpenter’s Oscar de la Renta gown. Zola Ganzorigt of @nailsbyzola created the style using OPI GelColor in It’s A Boy! with Chrome Effects in Tin Man Can.

imPRESS Beauty press-ons in Vanilla Glaze were enhanced with hand-painted, embossed roses and vines by Pattie Yankee and assistant, Imani Mone’t (@polishnpotions), for actress, Allison Williams.

Madam Glam Gel Polish was used by Elle Gerstein of @enamelle for this translucent mani with chrome leave details and mini crystals, worn by actress, Jessica Biel, to match her Cartier jewellery.

3D water droplets sat upon a long, classic French manicure for Doja Cat’s ‘Wet Gala’ look, crafted by @sacciadidthat.

Cynthia Erivo, who plays Elphaba in the upcoming Wicked movie, turned to her regular nail stylist, Rose Hackle of @rosedoesmynails, for an encapsulated nature-inspired design using OPI.

New York-based manicurist, Danny Tavarez of @dannyblessedit, fashioned a classic pink & white French nail style for fellow Wicked actress & singer, Ariana Grande.

Jennifer Lopez’s go-to tech, Tom Bachik, created a pearly nail look for the celeb inspired by the butterfly’s transformation. He added top coat from CND™ to Shellac™ hue, Flowerbed Folly, to produce the semi-sheer nail colour.

Aprés Nail was used by Naomi Yasuda to create a milky base with silver French tips for American actress, Greta Lee.
