Are you used to long working days? How about a 24 hour shift of non-stop nails? That’s what the team at Maidenhead salon, Becki’s Beauty, are doing this March in aid of charity.
Taking place between 9am on 18 March and 9am on 19 March 2022, Becki Hobbs and colleague Jodie Brown will host the Nails Around The Clock event, each creating a gel manicure each hour within the 24 hour window. The pair’s aim is to raise at least £1,000 for local hospice Thames Hospice, as well grow awareness.
The event also marks 10 years since Becki’s Beauty opened, which is why owner, Becki, wanted to give herself a challenge with such a memorable event.
“Each year I like to do a charitable event through my business and we do a collection every December for a local charity. I feel that it’s so vital not only as a nail tech but as a business owner to use my platform to its full potential to raise money for important causes,” says Becki.
“As an industry we have such an influence over others, so why not use the exposure to support charities?”
Becki tells Scratch that the response to Nails Around The Clock has been overwhelming, with 90% of appointments filled the day they were released – particularly the overnight and early morning slots, as clients were excited to get involved and encourage the techs. With the event being for such an important cause, and one that is close to home, Becki and Jodie are pleased to have such support.
“Thames Hospice is an incredible charity providing end of life palliative care to our local community. They have helped so many clients, friends and family members through the most difficult and heartbreaking times. They heavily rely on donations so to be able to contribute towards their care and facilities means the world to us,” comments Becki.
