London Fashion Week AW20: Unique beauty @ On|Off Presents

London Fashion Week AW20 kicked off on Friday 14 February with On|Off Presents holding its AW20 show at The Store X on The Strand.

The show saw five emerging fashion brands and designers showcase their AW20 collections; House of SheldonHall, Iyanu, 404 Studio, Zaful and Yan Dengyu. With the theme of the On|Off Presents show ‘All Power to the Imagination’, each collection saw a unique theme and unique beauty looks to complement.

Mii Cosmetics and BeautyLab sponsored the show, as head make-up artist, Lan Nguyen-Grealis, led her team to create individual make-up looks inspired by the respective collections.

A host of BeautyLab products were used to prep the skin of models to create a flawless base ready for make-up application. Products included the BeautyLab Black Diamond Moisture Complex and Multi Vitamin Oil to hydrate, soften and soothe. Across all five beauty looks, skin was kept natural looking and high-shine to achieve a youthful and fresh look.

Once prepped, Lan and her team got to creating the five make-up looks for each of the featuring designers.

House of SheldonHall
The House of SheldonHall AW20 ‘London Calling’ collection takes inspiration from the capital for an edgy and rebellious take on all things quintessentially British. To complement this, the make-up team a range of Mii Cosmetics products to create a gold leaf look on the eyes and lips, accompanied by lined brows. The gold leaf was applied in one of three colours – gold, red or blue – to reflect the British eccentricity of the collection.

Iyanu
The Iyanu AW20 ‘Things Fall Apart’ collection ‘romanticises the African past and brings the history of Nigeria into modern expression; fusing it with the social, historical and cultural situations currently being faced in modern Africa’. To complement the bold prints seen throughout the collection, the Mii Cosmetics team created graphic and bright make-up looks including a rainbow of shades and shapes, as well as a variety of textures from paint to eyeshadows.

404 Studio
The 404 Studio ‘Holy Mountain’ collection boasts a sense of magic and mystery. The Mii Cosmetics team created a ‘flaming brow’ look in an array of bold shades inspired by the ‘witchy’ elements of the collection. All emphasis was placed on the brows with the rest of the face left natural using the Mii Cosmetics Flawless Face Base.

Zaful
The Zaful ‘Forever Young’ collection featured digital, futuristic and girly elements reflected in the models’ make-up looks. The Mii Cosmetics team created a pink flush, feminine and illuminated make-up look for a clean and fresh finish.

Yan Dengyu
The Yan Dengyu ‘Anthropocene’ collection boasts avant garde fashion and exaggerated structures, seeing a theatrical, metaphorical and futuristic finish. This was complemented with an equally futuristic make-up look of a flawless base with crystal accents in a choice of black and red. The Mii Cosmetics team created a soft contour and delicate brows to pair with the crystal accents, making for a subtle yet striking look to really complement the high volume throughout the Yan Dengyu AW20 collection.
