London Fashion Week AW20: Matte nail styles @ Halpern

Channelling the power women of the 1970s, Halpern’s AW20 showcase saw sequinned suits and embellishments – with a nail look seeing multiple matte styles.
Lead nail stylist, Marian Newman, chose two key CND™ colours: Jiggy and classic Black Pool. The shades then saw a coat of CND™ Vinylux Matte Top Coat.
“I didn’t want the nails to fight with Michael’s collection,” says Marian. “It’s very full-on with a lot of colour and a lot of shimmer and sequins, so we decided instead of creating nails that were glittery and shiny we needed to matte the nails, so they were complimenting the collection.”
Marian also created several other looks, including 3D glitter cuffs, pink ombre nails and a matte black design with foil accents.
“For this look we used CND™ Vinylux in Black Pool and applied Lecenté Foil in Rainbow Shimmer in very tiny little lines so it’s quite subtle, but all the colours of the foil pick up the colour in the outfits,” Marian stated. “By adding the Vinylux Matte Top Coat it becomes an exquisite accompaniment to the outfits rather than being an overpowering statement.”
