We stayed at home. We stood still and took stock of the world around us. Then we stepped into action; wrote risk assessments, changed the way we clean, work, walk, shop and socialise. Salons, pubs, cafés and zoos opened in staggered series and at last schools are welcoming our young ones back into the fold, be it in a brave one-way system and strange new world.

With local lockdowns in full swing and the virus still very much alive, it’s with trepidation that some go back to life pre-pandemic, thus many inner cities lay dormant as office workers continue to work from home.
With this in mind a new citywide campaign has launched to help build consumer confidence and encourage a responsible recovery in consumer spending. The campaign, led by an alliance of more than 100 major London businesses, including iconic British hairdresser Adam Reed, aims to sustainably kickstart London’s consumer economy after the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. Campaigns of this kind can only be a positive for the beauty, hair and barbering sector as we aim to fill appointments and thrive.

The Because I’m a Londoner campaign forms one part of the Major of London’s #LondonTogether initiative, which brings Londoners together in this challenging time through helping them access the information and support they need, whilst encouraging responsible behaviour, in full alignment with government and public health advice.
The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, says, “I’m delighted to support the ‘Because I’m a Londoner’ campaign, which showcases the capital’s fantastic local businesses and encourages Londoners to safely and responsibly rediscover their local high streets and town centres. I’m determined to do all I can to help our city’s businesses navigate the continuing uncertainty. I’m confident this London Alliance will help build new partnerships and collaborations and, ultimately, help London emerge stronger than ever.”
