Beauty therapist Zaara King is a woman on a mission; a mission to help fellow pros avoid burnout and create a better balance between their work and personal lives.

Zaara ‘learnt the hard way’ when it came to balancing her business with family time and continued development. Keen to share her experience and advice with others, she has launched The Beauty Build, a Facebook group in which a community is growing and beauty professionals are invited.

“I know there are so many people out there juggling a number of roles, comparing themselves, getting stressed and needing balance in their lives, and I know how easy it is to burn out,” says Zaara. “Beauty professionals have such a demanding, people-pleasing role, especially in today’s society with added pressure from social media.”

Zaara had searched in the past for help with how to find balance in her life, but failed to find specific support for the nail and beauty industry. Then when the pandemic hit, she found herself struggling with her mental health for the first time in her life.

“I’ve always been a very positive person, but the uncertainty and the lack of routine really got to me,” she reveals. “It took a lot of determination to keep pushing forwards, so after coming out of lockdown, remaining fully booked and maintaining the confidence to make things work for me on my own terms, I decided it was the right time to launch The Beauty Build,” she comments.

So what does The Beauty Build offer?

“I offer guidance, support, Q&A’s, mindset growth, inner work and weekly live trainings which go into depth on topics relating to building a successful beauty business, keeping a balance and making things work for you. It offers the chance for people to share ideas, ask questions, gain feedback and confidence. It’s a no judgement zone!”

Female empowerment is also of huge importance to Zaara. “It’s a place for people to feel empowered, it’s a positive community and it’s free on Facebook for all female beauty professionals who want to build the business they dream of, while actually maintaining a balance in their life and mind.” She adds, “The ultimate aim of the group is to create a constructive change in the way we look at our businesses, making it work for us individually. I want to create a ripple effect and help as many women as possible.”

Something else close to Zaara’s heart is the vital matter of taking care of your mental health. “Looking after our mental well-being alongside all the work we do is really the most important thing, and it shouldn’t be a one off, it’s a constant thing to be practiced.”

Zaara’s top tip for success in the industry is to know who you are, and what the meaning of success means to you personally. “When you dive deep into that, magic happens! Self care is also key, so always make time for you and I’d just like to add, the best self-care is uninterrupted and regular!” she laughs. “Remember, in this industry it’s all about the feelings we leave our clients with, so give them an amazing experience to remember, and you’ll always feel successful!”

And she should know – this confident entrepreneur shows no sign of slowing down.

“I’m so driven by education, I really want to be able to make an impact and help women in building something for themselves, from start to finish. Ultimately my personal dream is to have the work life balance where my family is happy, my mind is healthy, and my business is fulfilling!”
