Get your business’ marketing content prepared for the month of March, with our roundup of dates to note…
1st: St. David’s Day
This event celebrates St. David: the patron saint of Wales, on the day of his death in 589 AD. To commemorate the occasion, Welsh people may sport the country’s national emblems: a daffodil and leek.
Appeal to Welsh clients with social media content based around the day, and by offering themed nail styles. Click here for our roundup of daffodil designs.

4th: Pancake Day
Also known as Shrove Tuesday, this is the traditional feast day before the 40-day Christian festival of Lent, which leads up to Easter. Traditionally, it’s the day that food like milk, eggs and butter would be used up, i.e. to make pancakes.
With clients indulging in sweet and savoury delights, don’t forget to bring the fun to nails by sharing your delicious creations to mark the day. Check out Pancake Day-inspired looks here.

3rd-9th: Waste Week
Launched to raise awareness of the detrimental effects of waste and encourage people to reduce their personal and business waste, this week sees a variety of initiatives take place across various sectors.
In the beauty industry, the Sustainable Beauty Coalition is launching The Great British Beauty Clean Up, bringing together brands to significantly reduce sector waste – which makes up a third of landfill materials. Want to get involved and promote your environmental efforts? Find out more here.
8th: International Women’s Day (IWD)
The first IWD gathering took place in 1911. Today, the event is a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, and highlights the need to accelerate female equality. The campaign theme for 2025 is ‘Accelerate Action’.
Female representation in the beauty industry is reported to be 93%, in the British Beauty Council’s 2024 report, A Beauty Industry That Looks Like You, so show your support for the event across social media and in the salon, as well as by creating themed designs like these.

17th: St. Patrick’s Day
Global celebration of Irish culture, St. Patrick’s Day is next and involves parades, special food and drink, and Irish music and dancing. It takes place on the day of patron saint of Ireland, St. Patrick’s death.
To delight clients involved in the festivities, consider marking the day online and in the salon, and offering themed designs containing Irish symbols like the shamrock and colours of the Irish flag. Check out nail inspo here.

17th-23rd: Neurodiversity Celebration Week
A 2024 survey by booking platform, Vagaro, found that half of beauty pros identify as neurodivergent: when someone’s brain works differently from what is considered ‘neurotypical’. Neurodiversity incorporates conditions like ADHD, autism and dyslexia.
The week challenges stereotypes and misconceptions about neurological differences, and recognises the talent of neurodiverse individuals globally. Show how you value the neurodiverse nail community: both techs and pros, via social media and encourage neurodiversity conversations to raise awareness. Read Scratch’s piece on how to accommodate neurodiverse needs here.

At the Scratch Stars Awards 2024 judging day, finalist, Emily Langford, created a nail design inspired by her ADHD experiences.
18th: Global Recycling Day
This event was created in 2018 to recognise the significant role recycling plays in protecting the planet – and it’s an important cause to clients, with NielsenIQ research showing that 72% of global consumers are willing to pay more for sustainable products.
If you recycle in your business, maybe via Green Salon Collective or SalonCycle, this is the time to make sure clients know it via your marketing materials. But, ensure you are transparent about your efforts and do not greenwash. We share ways to recycle salon waste here.

30th: Mother’s Day (UK)
Also known as Mothering Sunday, this is not a date to be missed. It’s an amazing chance to show mums some well-deserved love: most notably through pampering nail and beauty treatments.
Use your March marketing materials to detail how your services and retail items cater to mums-to-be, new mums and mature mums and grandmas, providing an ideal Mother’s Day gift. And don’t forget about sharing seasonal deals to incentivise clients! Click here for Mother’s Day nail designs.
