HTV Nail Academy in Vietnam hosts inspiring nail competition during pandemic

Hua Thanh Vy director of education for HTV Nail Vietnam Academy for nail design in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, hosted and organised one of the largest nail competitions the world has seen during the pandemic – The HTV Nail Cup 5th Edition 2020. The theme across the board was ‘Old Bamboo Shoots Sprouting’, which was interpreted and expressed through flat art, 3D art and bling sectors. Fifty sponsors supported the event, which attracted 100 competitors, 171 entries and 300 guests at the awards event.
Offering both live arena nail competitions as well as online, it was naturally popular for nail artist both near and far.
The competition offered three segments – 3D Nail Art, Inner Design Sculpture and Bling Nail. The judging panel was diverse and comprised; Nicolas Paggi (Argentina), Julie Ngo (Australia), Thuydo Vancouver (Canada), Jenna Loyche (Denmark), Thu Thuy Vu (Denmark), Jeanette Ulriksen (Denmark), Alex Fox (UK), Barbara Ujvari (Hungary), Ali Laccio (Japan), Stephy Pang (Malyasia), Amigo Tay (Malaysia), Rodica Munteanu (Romania), Dilyara Dorofeeva (Russia), Angela Nguyen (Sweden), Li Yi Chin (Taiwan), Li Yi Wen (Taiwan), Hedy Chen (Taiwan), Damon Ho (USA), Dau Thi Thao Phuong (Vietnam), Hurong Nguyen (Vietnam), Nguyen Trang Anh (Vietnam), Thuy Nguyen (Vietnam), Minh Huyen Luong (Vietnam), Tu Nguyen (Vietnam), Nha Turong (Vietnam). Alex Fox representing both Scratch and Nailympia for the UK, was invited to judge originality and creativity criteria.
