Peach Fuzz has been announced as the Pantone Color of the Year 2024: a ‘compassionate and nurturing soft peach shade, conveying a heartfelt kindness’.
The global colour authority chooses a different shade annually to support colour decisions for brands and manufacturers, and the hue supports trends across fashion, beauty and product design. It also helps express the moods and attitudes of consumers.
Also known as PANTONE 13-1023, Peach Fuzz is described as ‘a velvety gentle peach whose all-embracing spirit enriches mind, body, and soul’: bringing a feeling of tenderness and communicating a message of caring, sharing, community and collaboration.
Of the shade, Leatrice Eiseman, executive director for Pantone Color Institute, comments: “A cosy peach hue softly nestled between pink and orange, PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz brings belonging, inspires recalibration, and an opportunity for nurturing, conjuring up an air of calm. It offers us a space to be, feel, heal and to flourish from, whether spending time with others or taking the time to enjoy a moment by ourselves.
“Drawing comfort from PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz, we can find peace from within, impacting our wellbeing. An idea as much as a feeling, PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz awakens our senses to the comforting presence of tactility and cocooned warmth.”
The introduction of Peach Fuzz also marks the 25th anniversary of the Pantone Color of the Year programme, which began in 1999 with Cerulean Blue.
Laurie Pressman, VP of the Pantone Color Institute, adds: “In the spirit of PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz, we reflect back on the last 25 years of the Pantone Color of the Year programme: grateful to provide an avenue where designers and colour enthusiasts all over the world can engage in a conversation about colour, be inspired by colour, and showcase their creativity within their communities. We look forward to continuing this for many years to come.”
Pantone & beauty
For beauty, this year’s Pantone may influence eyeshadow, blush, lipstick and nail shades – as well as the packaging of these products. Stay ahead of the trend by incorporating into nail designs or choosing a peachy hue for a full overlay.
