Dancing On Ice

Hey Scratch readers!

So this week you will have seen that it’s movie week. Again, the themed weeks are always my favourite – we had a take on the Titanic, a little Jungle Book and even Bridget Jones’ Diary.

It was a really manic week with additional recording on the Saturday so it meant hair, make-up and nails all had to be done at the same time – but its nothing the Dancing On Ice beauty team can’t handle and its nothing compared to the mega quick changes during the show. I mean, I’ve been known to be sat under desks to get the cast’s nails done in time as there was no room anywhere else, but you’ve got to get the job done any which way!

He is a breakdown of my favourite nail look from this week’s show…

Libby Clegg (celebrity):
Libby and Mark Hanretty were performing a snippet from the Jungle Book and therefore had leopard print costumes on. I would’ve loved to have created an all-over leopard print design, however we had only 30 minutes to get the job done so this meant for a beautiful nude design with some leopard print accent nails. To create the look I mimicked the make-up design, which used both gold and white spots throughout the leopard print. After applying and curing The Gel Bottle Inc in Naked, I applied sporadic uneven shapes over the nail using The Gel Bottle Inc in Daisy and Vegas using my dotting tool. Once cured, I used Jet Black to create the remainder of the design. Placing a dot on the outside of the uneven shapes, I then used my detail brush to drag the colour around the shapes and repeated this on the opposite side. I then applied some very small black shapes in between. It really is that easy!

Here is what everyone else wore on their nails this week:

  • Carlotta Edwards: Clear Rubber Base, GelPot, gel polish shade Marshmallow, World of Glitter in Aspen, Extreme Shine Top Coat
  • Lisa George: Clear Rubber Base, GelPot, gel polish shade Petal, Extreme Shine Top Coat
  • Vanessa Bauer: Clea Rubber Base, GelPot, gel polish shade mix of Before The Storm and Manhattan, Extreme Shine Top Coat
  • Alex Murphy: Clear Rubber Base, GelPot, gel polish shade Diva, Extreme Shine Top Coat

Once again thank you so much for tuning in this week. It’s been crazy but it’s not long until the final now! Check back next week for my penultimate blog post and, in the meantime, go and check out my Instagram over at @nails_by_mads!
