Dancing On Ice: Nail Designs – Week 7

Maddy Rooke, celebrity nail technician, reveals the backstage antics and nail looks from ITV’s Dancing On Ice…

Hi Scratch readers,

So, the penultimate week at Dancing On Ice was an exciting one – I was asked to do Jayne Torvill’s nails for this week and the final.

We chose a deep purple glitter to match her outfit. I always use glitter on nails where possible as it gets picked up by the lights on set beautifully. For Jayne I used the Gellux Clear Base and Top Coat from Salon System to create the long-lasting gel mani and The Gel Bottle in Amethyst shade which is a gorgeous deep purple glitter with hints of silver. Ensure that any glitter shade is applied thinly with multiple layers to ensure it cures correctly.

Before applying any product it’s important to ensure that you’re happy with the shape of the nail and that the cuticle area is clean. My go-to products for perfect mani prep are from Navy Pro Tools – I used Beryl to cut the cuticle down as well as Ethel and Kathy to perfect the cuticles. What I love about this brand is that they have hygiene wipes to use after each application.
