Dancing On Ice: Nail Designs – Week 4

Hey Scratch readers!

From Dancing On Ice to the National Television Awards (NTAs), this week has kept me quite busy. I love seeing my work on-screen but it’s always amazing seeing the celebrities and professional skaters on the red carpet wearing my nails. They really are ‘pinch me’ moments. But, as much as we try to make their looks work for both occasions it doesn’t always happen!

Here is a breakdown of all of the looks from this week…

Firstly, I want to say a huge thank you to TAFS Products Ltd. I have been wanting an extractor fan to collect nail dust for such a long time and they kindly gifted me a new Zephyros Dust Collector in Gold. I will be taking it everywhere with me! It saves so much mess and, as I’m constantly covered in dust, it saves my uniform, too. It’s so much healthier for me when filing and refining and it’s incredibly easy to use. You know they say, ‘your health is your wealth’!

Vanessa Bauer (professional skater):
The outfit chosen for this week was absolutely gorgeous – it was black velvet with gold detailing. We decided to shape her nails to a slight point, taking them down a little and rounding them off lightly so that they are easier to manage while performing lifts, etc. We kept them black to match the outfit using The Gel Bottle Inc in Jet Black and used gold diamantés from Scatter Crystals to enhance the gold in her dress. The nails also went perfectly with her dress for the NTAs so it was a win-win!

Maura Higgins (celebrity):
This week we just did a super quick colour change for Maura. She wore a very elegant dress with rose gold detailing so, of course, I went for The Gel Bottle Inc’s best selling shade Rose Gold. This shade looked amazing on-screen – you definitely don’t miss the nails with this shade as it’s packed full of gorgeous glitter. For the NTAs, Maura looked absolutely incredible and luckily this worked with her red carpet look, too.

Carlotta Edwards (professional skater):
Carlotta was an alien this week with her partner, Ben. Her hair and make-up was absolutely amazing, as per usual, and so we wanted a jazzy nail design to match. I used The Gel Bottle Inc in Hola! Holo! all over the nail, applying two very thin, even coats, curing between for one minute. Then, I applied the shade Amethyst, which is a gorgeous deep purple glitter, half way down the nail to the tip. To finish, I applied Bling, which is another glitter shade that really sparkles, across the middle of the nail to finish the design off. Of course this wouldn’t have gone with her red dress for the NTAs so I did lend her a Peacći Nail Polish to pop on over the top to hide those alien vibes!

• Brianne Delcourt: Clear Rubber Base, gel polish shade Jet Black and Extreme Shine Top Coat

I also want to give a huge shout out to The Gel Bottle Inc for supplying us with the amazing nail products this year. I absolutely love using them and they have been incredible to work with.
