Dancing On Ice: Nail Designs – THE FINAL

Maddy Rooke, celebrity nail technician, reveals the backstage antics and nail looks from ITV’s Dancing On Ice…

Hi Scratch readers!

I cannot believe I’m writing my final blog post about Dancing on Ice. This series has been absolutely incredible thanks to all of the amazing skaters, celebrities and the beauty team that I have had the pleasure of working with.

All of the celebrities came back for the final, so it was a very busy time. With six celebs and six pro skaters to get through I was definitely kept busy! My focus was the finalists; Saara Alto, Vanessa Bauer and Alex Lukasz. All were potentially skating the bolero and therefore all wear purple and lilac to follow tradition. I created varieties on each of the nails for the female contestants.

Vanessa had an ombré style that complemented her ombré dress beautifully. Of course, I finished the mani with a splash of iridescent glitter and the GELLUX Clear Base/Top Coat.

Saara Alto had a beautiful lilac dress – unfortunately she didn’t get to skate her bolero on the night, but you can see it on her Instagram so check it out. For Saara, I used GELLUX Gel Polish in Bon Bon with an iridescent glitter which had a blue hue to compliment the slight sparkle in the shade.

Finally, THE WINNER – Alex Lukasz! Her dress was predominantly dark purple and therefore I used an amethyst hue. This really sparkles on screen with Jayne so couldn’t resist using it again. I used the GELLUX mini shade in Lavish Lilac underneath to lighten it slightly.
