Dancing On Ice: Nail Designs – Semi-final
By Guest Writer | 04 March 2020 | Events, News
Hey Scratch readers!
It’s the semi-finals! I cannot believe how quickly this series has gone. This week, the semi-finalists had two dances that we needed to match the nails to and, as expected, both outfits were completely different. So, ‘neutral glitters’ were used a lot this week to cover all bases.
My favourite look this week was Carlotta Edwards’. The shades worked really well together and they always stand out so well on-screen due to the heavy volume of small glitter particles in the gel. Here’s how I created the look…
Carlotta Edwards (professional skater):
Carlotta’s first outfit was a beautiful gold and bronze sequin number and the second was two piece with very muted pink tones. I chose to go for gold on this one but incorporate the different shades of bronze and gold in the first outfit as I knew this would go with the second, too.
I used The Gel Bottle Inc in Vegas and Art Deco for this look. I started with one coat of the darker glitter and cured. I then painted the same glitter half way up the nail. Before curing I painted the top of the nail with Vegas, ensuring they met in the middle without touching. Using The Gel Bottle Inc’s Ombre Brush, I gently ombréd down the nail with light, fluffy strokes and cured. I finished with The Gel Bottle Inc Extreme Shine Top Coat. It’s so easy but so effective!
Here is what the remaining skaters wore on their nails this week:
- Vanessa Bauer: Clear Rubber Base, GelPot, gel polish shade Bling, Lecenté Silver Foil and Extreme Shine Top Coat
- Libby Clegg: Clear Rubber Base, GelPot, gel polish shades Bling and #BABE, Extreme Shine Top Coat
- Alex Murphy: Clear Rubber Base, GelPot, gel polish base shade mix of Bling and Vegas, gel polish top shade mix of #GOALS and #BOSS, Extreme Shine Top Coat
So that’s it from me this week but head to my blog next week where I’ll be joined by Nailhouse Rock who is going to be assisting me for the final.
