Ctpa Annual Report 2019

The Cosmetic, Toiletry and Perfumery Association (CTPA) Annual Report has been published and outlines strategies moving forward post-brexit with a focus on its mission – it also welcomes a new chair to its board.

The CTPA Annual Report has been redesigned this year to provide a focus on the Association’s strategy to: facilitate, protect, promote and lead as part of the CTPA’s mission ‘to be the credible authority for a vibrant and responsible UK industry, trusted to act responsible for the consumer’.

The CTPA’s work on Brexit is fully documented together with the new international strategy within ‘The UK in the Global Landscape’, giving the full trade picture as the UK stands ready to become a third country to the EU. Its focus on the ambitious sustainability strategy, ‘Driving Towards a Net Positive Cosmetics Industry’ is charted in the ‘Review of the Year’ section and the work of and CTPA’s participation at Cosmetics Europe, the European personal care association, is also highlighted within the ‘CTPA Working with Members’ pages.

As well as tailored advice for members, the CTPA is also continuing to highlight official guidance and provide industry with critical information in the Covid-19 Advice for the Cosmetics Industry section of the CTPA public website. This includes CTPA guidance on in-store testers and cosmetic counters and a charter to welcome customers back to beauty stores, supported by the British Retail Consortium (BRC). The charter has been widely circulated and can also be found on the CTPA’s consumer website (www.thefactsabout.co.uk) together with other Covid-19 related advice for consumers.

Additions to the board
Following the CTPA board meeting held virtually on 16 June 2020, the organisation welcomes its new chair, Debbie Rix (Kao), vice-chairs, Jo Leonard (GSK) and Nick Sedgwick (City), and treasurer, Andrew Field (Aspects Beauty) to the team.

“At a time when it has never been more important for our vibrant cosmetics industry to have a strong and active Association, I’m thrilled and honoured to take on the role of CTPA chair,” says Debbie Rix. “I’m looking forward to working even more closely with the talented and passionate team at CTPA and with our highly engaged board members, treasurer and vice-chairs in navigating our way through the many challenges that lie ahead.”

Dr Emma Meredith, director general of The CTPA, comments: “I would like to thank Max Costantini (previous chair) and John Harold (honorary treasurer) for all they have done for the CTPA, we are indebted to them and wish them well. I’m delighted to welcome Debbie Rix as the new CTPA chair, Jo Leonard and Nick Sedgwick as vice-chairs and Andrew Field as treasurer.

“I’m looking forward to working with them all and benefitting from their wealth of expertise and advice. In such unprecedented times, when all businesses are facing huge challenges due to the Covid-19 health emergency, the help and advice of CTPA and its new executive team will be critical in enabling the cosmetics and personal care industry to continue to deliver excellence and support wellbeing.”
