Combining fashion nails & photography at a workshop in Herts

I was invited to join a photographic workshop at the Herts Academy of Beauty in Ware, Hertfordshire, hosted by educator & session stylist Jennie Nippard.
The workshop was presented by Marian Newman, well known for her fashion nails & photographic work, and the event offered eight places for nail professionals who were offered a brief. This brief was to evaluate then demonstrate who you are, how you define your ‘brand’ and what you want to bring to your clients.
Marian guided the class and observed as they began designing nails and discussing the props they had brought with them. She helped with visualising and elevating the photo to beyond a ‘snap’ as top class photographer, Ambra Vernuccio, a regular at Fashion Week, was on hand to guide the shoot for each professional.
The aim was to create an image that could be a massive poster, a brand image, a website opener or business card.
It was enormous fun to be invited and involved, since I’ve not been to a photo shoot for some time. Once upon a time I was at shoots almost weekly and this side of the nail industry can be so much fun – expressive and creative.
Since it was her day off, I took my daughter, Lara, along to the workshop and she happens to have beautiful hands and was used by some as a hand model.
Im really looking forward to showcasing the images in the March edition of Scratch magazine. Subscribe here so you don’t miss out!
