Careers & Colourism in beauty to be discussed during online event

Community platform E.A.T.O.W. (Embracing All Tones Of Women) is presenting Careers & Colourism, an online event to explore such roles and prejudice in the beauty, hair and film industries.
Featuring Eryca Freemantle, E.A.T.O.W. chairwoman & global beauty strategist, the two-hour session on 28 July (7-9pm) is open to all and will be hosted by journalist and commentator, Afua Adom.
“During this one-off event, Afua will delve into the life journeys of our incredibly talented guests,” reveals a spokesperson from E.A.T.O.W. “He will explore their experiences, worth ethic and the challenges and triumphs that have lead them to be icons in their respected fields.
“The world has never been more awake to the dysfunction in society when it comes to diversity and difficulties faced by people of colour. The panel will discuss what it takes to succeed in a world where prejudice is faced every day.”
The line-up boasts:
English actress, Beverly, was on the Forbes 30 under 30 list in 2018 and studied scriptwriting and film-making at Roehampton University before relocating to Nigeria to focus on being a part of the industry.
Beverly has acted in a number of well received movies including When Love Happens, Before 30, The Perfect Picture and The Wedding Party 1 & 2, and produced her first documentary, Skin, under her production company Be Naya LTD.
Available to stream via Netflix, the documentary focuses on colourism and how it affects our society, it has gone on to screen at over 12 film festivals around the world.
Hairstylist Errol Douglas is globally recognised as an ultimate artisan within the hairdressing industry. Renowned for his stunning photographic, session and event work, Errol has won dozens of coveted awards in his field. During his tenure as elected president of the Fellowship for British Hairdressing, he delivered on his vision of championing young industry talent and creating a bigger international profile for UK hairdressing. He now occupies the Fellowship’s first ambassador role, raising awareness of the UK hair industry on an ongoing basis. This year, he received his 24th consecutive nomination for British Hairdresser of the Year at the British Hairdressing Awards.
