Beauty industry trade association launches

Industry trade association, The National Hairdressers Federation, has unveiled its new sister trade association – the National Beauty Federation.
“We recognised that the NHF name is a barrier for beauty salons, yet we know that our beauty salon members value the free business support included in membership,” explains chief executive, Hilary Hall. “The obvious solution was to establish a sister trade association which builds on the NHF heritage, but is recognisable within the beauty sector.
“The new NBF clearly shows that specialist support is available to beauty salons too, but tailored for the unique challenges of running a beauty business.” Hilary Hall
With the launch, the NBF has announced Hellen Ward, MD of Richard Ward Hair and Metrospa, as the NBF’s first beauty ambassador. Hellen is the vice president of the British Association of Women Entrepreneurs, a successful businesswoman herself and a regular columnist in the beauty trade press.
“I have always hugely admired the important work the NHF does,” explains Hellen says. “It’s fantastic news that the NBF will be providing the same support for beauty salons, taking the stress out of running a hair or beauty business, and saving salon owners a huge amount of time and money.”
The trade association has been established since 1942, and supports hair salons, barbershops and beauty salons. NBF member benefits include:
- a free round the clock helpline on employing and managing people;
- free employment contracts and staff handbooks;
- agreements for salons renting space to self-employed therapists;
- advice on all aspects of running a beauty salon business – from regular updates on employment law changes, National Minimum Wage/National Living Wage, handling complaints, wages, prices and profits, GDPR, managing absence, the new beauty Trailblazer apprenticeships and funding.
To celebrate the NBF’s launch, the first 100 beauty salons to join will receive a discount of £25 on their first year’s membership. Quote code NBF25.
