Beauty industry to be offered free recycling waste collections

Recycling provider, Free Collections, is introducing a free glass waste collection service for the UK beauty industry.
Each year, the beauty industry contributes to tonnes of glass waste as opposed to recycling. The new service is set to change the landscape of recycling in the industry by removing both the administrative and financial burdens, which are a barrier for businesses who are reluctant or unable to recycle.
Spaces on the innovative scheme are limited and Free Collections anticipates high demand. “We’ve made it very simple for businesses to sign up,” says Mark Hall, communications director of Free Collections. “To find out if you’re eligible, its as simple as filling in a form and a representative will be in touch. For those just wanting a free glass collection rather than a full collection service, it’s first-come, first-served basis – but businesses will be offered a discounted rate until the free service is available.”

The scheme aims to reduce the amount of glass waste that goes to landfill, as the country faces ever-increasing waste removal demands; but it also aims to encourage the local communities in the UK to consider the environment.
“We find that increasing the rate of recycling in an area goes hand-in-hand with fostering a better, more mindful approach to how residents and businesses look at their town centres and communities, which can have a positive knock-on effect,” explains Mark Hall.
“As a nation we are unfortunately still way behind when it comes to recycling, and reducing non-recycled business waste is a crucial aspect of tackling the problem. Many businesses are still putting glass into their general waste bin for a variety of reasons: some don’t think they have the time to take their glass to a suitable recycling centre or many are put off by the cost of having their waste glass collected.
“We’re removing those barriers to offer businesses in the UK the opportunity to have free recycling collections – a huge help for businesses with lots of recycling and a simple way to ‘go green’. Not only will this have a cumulative positive impact on the environment, it will also save eligible companies thousands of pounds a year.”
