Ria-Jaine Lincoln, aka The Beauty Accountant, has launched a campaign to prepare beauty businesses for the UK government’s upcoming Making Tax Digital (MTD) initiative.

Digital Boost for Beauty, launching on 2 February 2025, seeks to ‘support hair and beauty professionals to transition from paper-based bookkeeping to digital systems – or unlock the potential of software they may already use – to streamline tax and bookkeeping processes’.

Making Tax Digital will take effect in April 2026. While self-employed individuals and small businesses currently submit updates annually, they will be required to send updated data quarterly.

Founder, Ria-Jaine Lincoln, explains: “My goal with Digital Boost for Beauty is to empower beauty professionals to embrace the digital transition with confidence. From my own experiences of working in a salon and running a beauty business at home, I understand the challenges of managing time in such a demanding, client-focused industry, and want to make the move to digital as seamless as possible for all involved.”

She adds: “These tools are not just about compliance. Much like booking systems, bookkeeping systems can help professionals save time, reduce stress and gain better insights into their finances and cash flow.”

The Digital Boost for Beauty campaign will run up to the new tax year in April 2025 and include:

  • Webinars and guides: Tailored specifically to the beauty industry to highlight the benefits of digital tools and how to use them effectively.

  • Support partnerships: With leading beauty brands and software providers offering exclusive discounts, resources and knowledge sharing.

  • Workshops and resources: Focusing on simple strategies for meeting quarterly deadlines without sacrificing time for creativity or self-care.

  • Accountability sessions: Group accountability sessions will be offered at no extra cost to those that sign up for the February masterclass for the duration of the campaign period.

The campaign is also suitable for beauty pros already using software, by offering ‘advanced tips and tricks to maximise the value of digital tools, helping to track income, manage expenses and better plan for future growth’. The first part of the campaign will focus on QuickBooks software.

Ria-Jaine shares: “The MTD transition is an opportunity to take control of finances and reduce administrative burdens.”
