According to Stylist, Beauty bookings service Treatwell has reported a 432% spike in bookings within 24 hours after it was announced salons could potentially reopen on 12 April.
After a tough 12 months for the industry, the announcement of the earliest date the sector can reopen in line with the Covid-19 roadmap led to a rush for clients to book in their beauty treatments.
The data by Treatwell reveals that hair appointments represent 47% of bookings, specifically haircuts, followed by hair colour appointments, with there being an increase in a balayage colouring.
Face treatments and hair removal take up 18% each of the post-lockdown bookings while nail treatments, in particular two-week manicures like shellac, account for 9% of bookings.
Massages took up 8%, signalling a rise in people’s attention to self-care.
