Beauty membership organisation, BABTAC, has approached anti-slavery charity, Unseen, to launch a week-long campaign to help put a stop to exploitation in the beauty industry.

With stories of salons being raided due to illegal workers and reports of slavery, Let’s Nail It 2017 has launched and is seeking support from BABTAC salons.

During the campaign week of 16– 23 October, participating salons will be promoting Unseen, talking to customers about the issue of modern slavery in the UK and donating £1 per nail treatment to Unseen to help the organisation support survivors of slavery, and put a stop to it for good.

“We are proud to support this campaign with Unseen,” comments Lesley Blair, vice chair of BABTAC. “We are aware that there are issues with modern slavery within our industry and it is something we have stood against for many years, advising and educating therapists and the general public to spot the signs.

“By working in partnership with Unseen, a leading charity for modern slavery, we are raising the profile of the issue with a different audience. We would like to encourage all of our members to support this campaign; we’ve kept it simple and easy to administer to capitalise on raising the awareness and profile of this topic for all concerned.

“As a professional association, we want to let the public know that reputable salons are working together to take on modern slavery in the beauty industry, but to do this we need your help. Together, Let’s Nail It.”
