Vegan and cruelty-free nail polish brand, ASHE London, has released three shades perfect for holiday manicures and pedicures.
Founded by former nail tech & diversity consultant for the legal profession, Ashleigh Alli, ASHE London is committed to championing diversity and social change, with each colour tested on a minimum of five skin tones and named after someone who has changed the world.
The brand’s colours offer a long-lasting, pigmented and high shine finish of 74% plant origin, and ASHE London partners with two charities: Cianna’s Smile and Bloody Good Period, donating 10% of all profits to the organisations.
Let’s meet the summer hues…
Sadie
Reminiscent of seashells, Sadie is named after civil rights activist, Sadie Tanner Mossell Alexander, who became the first African American woman to receive a PHD in economics in the US in 1921. Six years later, she became the first woman to receive a law degree from the University of Pennsylvania, and went on to become the first Black woman to practise law in the state.
The grey tones in Sadie are inspired by demoiselle crane feathers, agate gemstones, two types of rock and cushion bushes.
Phillis
Ocean blue, Phillis, is inspired by vintage lithographs of fish and fungi, as well as 19th century Japanese paintings. The shade is named after Phillis Wheatley, the first African American woman to become a published author, with the release of her poetry in 1773.
Mae
Mae takes inspiration from summer berries and captivating evening skies, and is named after American physician & astronaut, Mae Jemison, the first Black woman to travel into space in 1987.
