Fundraising efforts by Saks Hair & Beauty UK has raised £150,000 for The Eve Appeal.
The total raised so far goes towards Saks’ target of £250k to help aid research into the five women-only cancers of the womb, ovaries, cervix, vulva and vagina.
Most recently the UK-wide salon group joined an array of high-profile Eve ambassadors – including Karen Hobbs, Caroline Hirons and Cherry Healey – to support Eve’s #GETLIPPY campaign on social media in May, encouraging women – and men – to speak up and out about the signs and symptoms of women’s cancers.
“I’m blown away by how everyone’s joined in with our ongoing fundraising activities,” Janet King, head of marketing for Saks. “I’d like to thank our customers, friends, families and – of course – our brilliant Saks teams for their continued contribution.”
Since 2015, Saks teams have blow-dried, baked, cycled, massaged, nail-painted, pants paraded, ran, raffled, sky-dived, spray-tanned, walked, waxed and zip-wired their way to £150k.
“Target smashing Team Saks have done it again!” enthuses Athena Lamnisos, chief executive of The Eve Appeal. “We’ve reached an incredible milestone passing the £150k mark. We are so thrilled to have Saks as our brilliant charity partner. The enthusiasm, commitment and support that everyone has given to prevent women’s cancers with life-saving research makes such a difference.
“The conversations that happen with customers are vital and research shows that talking openly about signs and symptoms is a powerful tool in making sure that these cancers are diagnosed earlier. We can’t wait to see what else is planned. The biggest thank you from all at Eve – staff, volunteers, trustees, researchers and of course, the women affected by these cancers and their loved ones.”
