Spring happiness nail design
Step by Step
Salon System nail expert and owner of The Nail Fairy, Caroline Roberts, has created a step-by-step for this funky, spring happiness themed set.
The design uses Gellux’s Free Spirit collection, a collaboration with nail artist and Gellux expert, Julie-Anne Larivière. All Gellux products mentioned are available from wholesalers nationwide.
Step 1
Prep the nails and push back the cuticles. Shape and buff the natural nails with a grey and yellow buffer. Dust and wipe them with GELLUX Prep & Wipe. Apply a thin layer of GELLUX Fast Bond.
Step 2
Apply two thin layers of GELLUX Builder Gel Rose Pink, curing each layer for 60 seconds. Wipe off any sticky excess with GELLUX Prep & Wipe then lightly buff nails for a matte look, using a nail brush to remove any dust.
Step 3
Apply the GELLUX Free Spirit collection to the tip of each nail, using pink Glorious and Free, green Go With The Flow, blue Joie De Vivre, yellow Be A-‘Maize’ing, and red Maple Dreams Come True. Cure for 60 seconds.
Step 4
This where each nail is personalised… Little finger: use Be A-’Maize’ing and Joie De Vivre. Apply the gel with a dotting tool to create splashes, curing for 60 seconds. Ring finger: using GELLUX Black Onyx, create the eyes with a dotting tool and the smile with a nail art liner brush. Middle finger: create the flowers by using a dotting tool. Place GELLUX Purely White dots in a circle then drag the dots down to join them together. Cure for 60 seconds, then add a tiny amount of Be A-’Maize’ing to the centre of the flower using a dotting tool, curing for 60 seconds.
Step 5
Index finger: to create the multicoloured dots, use a dotting tool with shades Joie De Vivre, Be A-'Maize’ing, Glorious and Free and Run Wild with Me, randomly dotting them as liked. Thumb nail: the heart was created by using Joie De Vivre and a dotting tool. Place two dots at the top next to each other, then use a liner brush to drag the dots down to join at the point. Finish by using the dotting tool to create dots on either side of the heart, then cure for 60 seconds. Apply GELLUX Shiny Top, curing for 60 seconds. Wipe the nails with GELLUX Prep & Wipe and apply cuticle oil.
