February 2019 Scratch cover nails: step-by-step
Spring/Summer, Step by Step
Recreate the nail look as seen on the front cover of February 2019’s Scratch magazine, with a hand from session nail technician, Metta Francis.
Metta used iZ Beauty of London nail lacquer, but gel or gel polish can be used for a longer-lasting look.
All products used are available from www.izabellehammon.com
Step 1
Prep and shape the nails in a subtle coffin shape. Apply base coat and two coats of iZ Beauty of London Gel Effect Nail Lacquer in Lily Romance. Allow to dry thoroughly. If using gel, remove the inhibition layer after curing.
Step 2
Carefully peel the self-adhesive Gold Triangle decal from the iZ Beauty of London Deco iT sheet using a pair of tweezers and place in the centre of the nail slightly away from the cuticle area.
Step 3
Smooth the decal onto the surface of the nail with a rubber ended tool ensuring that there are no air bubbles.
Step 4
Dip the IH Striping Brush into the Mirror Ball Satin Chrome Nail Lacquer and carefully paint a line from the cuticle area to the top of the triangle, leaving a border. Next, continue straight up to the free edge to create guide lines.
Step 5
Fill in the shape carefully using a good amount of nail polish. This should cover in one layer using the lacquer brush or the Striping Brush, depending on the size of your client’s nails.
Step 6
Repeat steps 4 and 5 on the other side of the nail using Ball Gown Satin Chrome Nail Lacquer. Wait for the polish to dry thoroughly before applying top coat.
