Cool ceramics

Final

Step by Step

Sophie Harris-Greenslade creates this ‘cool ceramics’ design inspired by the streets of Lisbon and it’s tile art. “When planning nail art designs, I love taking a hint or small detail of something that inspires me and adapting it to create something original,” says Sophie. “Working through my deigns in this way on paper first helps me stretch and challenge my design process and creativity.”

You will need:

  • OPI GelColor Base Coat
  • OPI GelColor shades in Closer Than You Might Belem & Suzi Chases Portu-Geese
  • Fine Detail Nail Art Brush
  • OPI GelColor Top Coat
  • OPI LED Lamp
Step 1
Prep the nails and apply OPI GelColor Base Coat. Cure, then apply two coats of OPI GelColor in Closer Than You Might Belem, curing each coat in the LED Lamp for 30 seconds.
Step 2
Paint a thick outline of OPI GelColor in Suzi Chases Portu-Geese around the half moon area of the nail. Flash cure to prevent the lines from spreading.
Step 3
Paint a thin outline of OPI GelColor in Suzi Chases Portu-Geese above the thicker line using a nail art brush, leaving a gap in between. Flash cure.
Step 4
Paint two thin semi circles directly on top of the thin white curved line, leaving an hourglass shape in the centre. Add thorn shapes to the sides of the semi circles with the lines finishing at the side walls. Flash cure. Continue the line of the semi circles by adding a point and curved leaf-like shapes, following the shape back round to finish at the side walls. Cure.
Step 5
Add detailing inside the shape using Suzi Chases Portu-Geese.
Step 6
Paint two inverted teardrop shapes. Cure for 30 seconds. Finish with a coat of OPI GelColor Top Coat and cure for a further 30 seconds. Wipe away the sticky layer with NAS 99 on a lint-free wipe.
