Social Media

This is an uncertain time for the nail industry. Now may offer an opportunity to focus on the factors that are within your control to help navigate your way through this challenging time for businesses.

In order for your business to stay relevant, you must keep updated and work with any changes. If you don’t keep up, then you will get left behind.

Now is a time which is even more essential than ever to keep in touch with your clients and remain at the forefront of their minds. If a business was once active on social media and then becomes invisible it will become irrelevant and overlooked. Customers may assume the business has closed and will seek alternative options.

In such a personal based sector, building and maintaining strong relationship with our customers is a key part of our role. This keeps them coming back to us.

Share with clients what online courses you’ve been completing in lockdown

Some content you might want to share with your customers daily via your website, social media channels or email include:

  • Thanking them for their support.
  • Explain what your nail business is doing now and how it might affect them.
  • Detail the changes you’re making to your services. For example, are you offering press on and home care products?
  • Share updated gift voucher, refund and cancellation policies.
  • Update ways on how to get in touch with you.
  • Share what you are doing for your employees and keep customers up to date on what the whole team are up to.
  • Updated hygiene and back to work policies you will be implementing.
  • New skills and e-courses you have carried out, creating enthusiasm for when they return to you and experience your new offerings.
  • Local initiatives you have been involved in.

Have you been creating nail care guides?

Keep your content positive and uplifting to motivate your audience. As well as static posts, vary the content by including videos and scheduled live videos for catch up, Q&A and ‘how-to’ guides on your social media channels.

Involve your clients and ask what they would like to see or hear about. By including your customers in your plans, it makes them feel valued.

Make it easy for your customers to contact you:

  • Display your contact information prominently on your website at the top of the landing page or as a header.
  • Ensure your contact information is up to date on all online channels such as Google; Yell; your website and social media channels. Facebook has made updates available to let customers know your amended opening hours.
  • Make sure to include up to date contact information in all email correspondence with your customers.
  • Reassure your clients that you are active on social media and they can connect with you. Include links to your social profiles in emails, blog posts, etc.
  • Consider using additional online tools like Facebook and Instagram Messenger, to let customers know that you’re available during certain hours by setting automated responses.

Share helpful tips with your followers

Offer valuable content to your customers such as top tips, how to videos and photo tutorials that will benefit them during this time including:

  • How to take care of their nails and hands at home
  • Correct filing methods
  • How to paint nails
  • Correct and safe enhancement removal
  • How to make home care items such as scrubs
  • Top nail and beauty tips
  • Tutorials and ideas applicable to your business to keep kids entertained

Ensure you include links and recommendations for your favourite products or retail items and how to purchase these.

Plan and schedule your content ahead to ensure it is valuable and relevant. This in turn will ensure it gets the most reach. There are many apps to schedule including Facebook Pages and Hootsuite.

By establishing your business as worthy of attention while everyone is stuck at home, you can ensure that you remain relevant during this uncertain time.

Stay safe.
