Have we all lost our vision and do we all want a piece of the influential pie? Firstly, you need to understand what the role entails.

An influencer’s purpose is to influence the purchase of a product, often by providing an expert level of knowledge. Fellow techs have told us that they feel pressure to be backed by a brand in order to make their business a success and have influence. However, that does not bring the dollar to the door and help establish a client base or needs.

So do you want to be an influencer or be noticed in your own right? In our opinion, there are some amazing influencers that have a huge wealth of knowledge, have worked hard to get to their position and been with a brand for many years to develop their skills. Becoming an influencer does not happen overnight!

Who decides that you can be an influencer and where do you start?

Do you approach a company, is it really all about the followers, is about your skillset or do you work and plan for it?

Personally, how we made our business grow organically is when we discovered companies that influenced us such as @socialista, @janmurray @beautyedit showing us that we need to invest in ourselves and believe in what we do. The first step towards influencing is to decide how it will move your business forward. Do you want more clients? Do you need affiliation with a company? Do you want a higher social media platform? Is it all about the freebies? What works for you, doesn’t necessarily work for someone else.

Don’t be afraid to use different companies and products. We both use various brands to suit our client’s needs. Isn’t that what it’s all about; keeping the client happy and getting the best out of the product?

Reevaluate what and who your social media account is for. Is it your shop window, a glimpse into your business or are you still waiting to be noticed to become the next industry famous influencer? Tell us your thoughts via Instagram – @the.beautybloggers – we’d love to know.
