Scratch chats to Victoria Adams, owner of Lemonade Beauty, about her love for the nail industry, being a glitter make-up artist and relocating her salon just before the UK lockdown…
“I trained in nails in 2018 at a salon school in Kent,” explains Victoria. “I then went on to further my skill set with The Gel Bottle Inc at their academy in Brighton. I’ve always been creative and love looking after people; I felt that working in the beauty industry was the right next step for me after becoming a mum. I knew I wanted to work in my own salon set-up and it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
“I own a home-based salon called Lemonade Beauty (@lemonadebeautyuk on Instagram). I just relocated from Kent to Devon at the start of lockdown and, once salons are allowed to re-open, I will be opening the salon to my client base in Exeter for the first time. My waiting list is massive and I can’t wait, I feel so blessed.
“I offer a range of treatments including nails, massage, facials, brows, lashes and make-up. My other passion in the industry is being a glitter make-up artist. I love to work at festivals, parties and
social events – it’s definitely an aspect of my business that I would love to explore further. Having a home salon is something I am so very proud of. It’s beautiful, welcoming and a place that my clients can have all to themselves for a well-deserved pamper.
“For my nail services I use The Gel Bottle Inc, Peacći and CND Vinylux products. I love using quality products that are cruelty-free and safe for myself and my clients. My hero product is definitely The Gel Bottle Inc BIAB! It transforms gel polish services and my clients love it, too. I also love Navy Pro Tools, as it makes my prep work so much easier – I use Doris, Ethel and Helen. I also couldn’t be without my The Gel Bottle Inc E-File for prep and refining work.
“There are so many talented nail artists out there that inspire me on a daily basis. I love the very clean, sophisticated nail look. Dry By London is such an inspiring salon; their work is stunning and definitely inspires me. I’m also very drawn to kindness in artists, as I think it’s not just the work you produce but the way you interact with others, especially as social media can often be a negative place. Kindness goes a long way. Lucy Sharman is so sweet and her pedicures are addictive to watch. Fiona Bayliss from Bliss Skin & Beauty has also reached out since my move and has been a wonderful support.
“My signature nail style is natural, short and simplistic. I like little details, focus massively on prep and I’m a sucker for a nude nail or, in total contrast, a neon toe. I’m obsessed with natural builder gel colours. The Gel Bottle Inc BIAB in Dolly is my personal go-to. I also love little nail art accents such as a tiny star or dot with a metallic or pop of colour: clean, simple and beautiful!
“My salon has been a real success. It’s always a risk stepping into a new industry but my clients have been unbelievably supportive. I’m always fully booked and feel so blessed to be busy. Instagram has really helped with my journey and I have learnt a lot. I continue to improve my skill set all the time. In the future, I would love to combine my love for nails and glitter make-up artist work and take both to big festivals around the world. Watch this space!”
