Lauren Holmes, of Nailed It Beauty, reveals that Halloween nails have been popular with her clients recently – particularly this cute pumpkin design.
“I think this nail design has been really popular because it’s autumnal and halloween-y. Many of my clients love the idea Halloween nails, but just aren’t brave enough to have them, so these are a really nice toned down alternative – and they’re super cute!
“This design was originally done by Katie Masters (@nailthoughts) and pictures of her creation were brought to me by my clients. Katie has a really helpful tutorial of these nails on her page, but I did this particular set with two coats of Gelish Structure Gel in Cover Pink for the base of the pumpkin nails to give a natural look. The base of the other nails are Gel Bottle Inc. colours; the little finger and thumb are Pumpkin and the middle finger is Cattail.
“To create the pumpkins, I started by making a half heart shape in Pumpkin before curing. Then, using a brown gel, I painted the stem of the pumpkin and cured. For the glittery pumpkin, I just added a thin layer of Cattail over the top and cured. Then, using a black gel and a striper brush, I outlined the stem and pumpkin. Once this layer is cured, add the lines over the pumpkin, cure, topcoat and you’re done!
“I love this look because I think they’re adorable. I think they’re very popular with most nail techs at the minute and, although they’re just plain pumpkins, I’ve done them in a few different ways and seen other techs experiment with them too, so it’s nice that you can change them up.”
