Diana Pajeva, of Diana’s Nail Art, reveals that kitschy chic leaf designs have been popular with her clients recently.

“Palm tree, leafy patterns have been a huge trend in high-end designer clothes for spring/summer collections. As well as that, the pattern reminds my clients of holidays, beaches and enjoying a peaceful life somewhere on an exotic island. Green is a very fresh and organic colour! Minimalistic nail art is growing in popularity and I am very excited about this trend.

“My client was having a treatment for gel infills and came in with an idea of wanting ‘some kind of leafy pattern’. To make the design stand out, I chose a neutral background colour from Arnelle Colorelle. I’ve been using their products for quite a while now and I’m absolutely in love with their highly pigmented gel polishes, meaning this light base colour was applied in just one coat. I then painted the leaves using a new shades of green gel polishes, and used black and white gel paints for contouring and shadowing. Once the final top coat was dry, I decided to create a ‘water drops’ effect using sculpting gel and a dotting tool – it makes the pattern appear even more realistic.

“I love this leafy pattern trend on fabric, furniture and tiles, so why not incorporate it into nails? I’m sure this is a trend that will stick and I have a feeling that I’ll be doing a lot of different variations of this nail art throughout the summer. It can also be matched with bright colours to make it more of a holiday-worthy look!”
