Tracey Hazeldon Nail Tech

Scratch catches up with nail tech, Tracey Hazeldon, to learn more about her industry journey…

Tracey Hazeldon from Ashford in Kent has been qualified as a nail tech since 2010, when she swapped a retail career to embrace her artistic flair.

“I wanted to combine a love of art with meeting new people so that’s why I started my nail journey,” she says. “I work mainly full time in my nail lodge at home but also provide mobile treatments for those who for whatever reason can’t leave their homes or struggle to leave.”

Her goals this year include learning new techniques and hand painting bespoke designs for her clients. “I want to offer anything from a hand painted Disney character up to portrait designs. This is a challenge that I’ve invested so much blood, sweat and tears in but something I’m truly passionate about perfecting.”

Tracey admires nail techs such as Gemma Lambert, Kirsty Meakin and Jemma Porch as well as members of her local nail tech community. She likes to use products including CJP Nail Systems for a flawless acrylic look and The Manicure Company due to its exciting range of colours.

Tracey’s grinch nail design

“My favourite creation is the hand painted Grinch themed nails that were so popular at Christmas,” she says. “I’m still pinching myself that after 10 years in the industry I’m still as passionate and fiercely driven to provide such a fun and top-notch service to my loyal clients.”

Tracey says that the highlight of her career so far was last year when she was nominated for and won the Bronze Award for Nail Artist of the Year in the Kent Health and Beauty Awards. “I was surrounded by talented individuals across the nail and beauty industry and I was in awe! I was totally gobsmacked to win, it was a real highlight and pat on the back moment.”
