Nail Tech Sian Peters' Cactus Design

Scratch catches up with nail tech, Sian Peters, to learn more about her industry journey…

Sian Peters

Sian Peters, nail tech at Halo Hair & Nails in Bearsden, Glasgow began her nail journey began about eight years ago when she completed a Diploma in Nail Technology with NSI in Glasgow. She is self-employed and rents a small space in a local hairdresser’s salon.

“I love experimenting with freehand nail art and there is nothing I won’t give a go,” Sian says. “My favourite creation to date has to be a set of matte abstract gels with a signature cactus. I used The Gel Bottle BIAB in Teddy to build a strong base and keep the nails strong. My favourite brand has to be The Gel Bottle; its products have completely blown my mind and changed the way I work in the best way. The BIAB products are incredible.”

Sian’s goals for the year ahead are to build her online presence and become more confident in showing the person behind the nails. “I am always looking ahead and hope to collaborate with brands and other nail techs. In fact, one of my biggest influences in the nail industry at the moment have to be Sophie from Nancy Loves Nails. I took one of her workshops last year and was blown away by her skills and amazing personality!”

She says that the highlight of her career so far has been coming back to what she loves. “I had a terrible time a few years ago in the industry and left two years in. I was never happy in any other work that I did, so took a leap of faith and quit my job to come back to be a self-employed nail tech. Since returning, my business has boomed and I am so blessed to have full books and a group of incredibly supportive people around me!”
